How to get a certificate of good conduct (RIB)

What you need

• National ID (foreigners: passport and a passport copy)
• Recommendation letters from your village and your cell
• A passport photo
• A phone number and/or email

Steps

1. Get recommendation letters in person from your village leader and your cell office.
2. Go to irembo.gov.rw → Rwanda Investigation Bureau → Certificate of Good Conduct → Apply.
3. Enter your ID or passport number and upload the letters and photo.
4. Confirm and submit.
5. When RIB approves it, download the e-certificate from Irembo.

Tips

• This is different from the criminal record certificate (NPPA), so check which one is being asked for.
• Living abroad? You can give someone power of attorney to get the letters from your last village and cell.
