How to get a certificate of residence

What you need

• An Irembo account (or an Irembo agent)
• National ID (or a Citizen Application Number for a child). Foreigners use a passport number
• A phone number and/or email

Steps

1. Log in at irembo.gov.rw → Family → Certificate of Residence.
2. Choose Self or Child, then click Apply.
3. Check your details and select the sector office for where you live.
4. Confirm, add phone/email and submit. Pay the billing number (starts with 88).
5. When the sector Executive Secretary approves it, download the certificate.

Tips

• Foreigners without a Rwandan ID may need an Irembo agent to apply.
