How to check and pay a traffic fine

What you need

• Your plate number and the TIN linked to it (on the yellow card / logbook), or the ticket number
• A phone number and/or email

Steps

1. Go to irembo.gov.rw → Police → Traffic Fines → Apply (no account needed), or dial *909#.
2. Enter plate number + TIN and click Search to see your fines.
3. Select the fines to pay (all or some), then click Next.
4. Confirm, add phone/email and submit. You get a billing number starting with 88 or 87.
5. Pay within 1 hour (MTN, Airtel, BK or card), or the billing number expires.

Tips

• Pay quickly. Irembo's FAQ mentions a late fee if a fine stays unpaid.
• Think a fine is wrong? The police website has a dispute process.
• You must clear fines before booking a vehicle inspection.
